Our Special Spot

A love like ours is unbreakable because it was bonded by God!

2017 for my husband and I was a very special one. It was our last year before moving to another country. We knew that we wanted to end our year at our special spot where it all began.

Lake Las Vegas has always been a special place for me. When I was single, this is the place I would drive out to. This is where I would come to clear my mind and get away from the stress that life brought me. This hidden gem is 45 minutes away from the city. Whenever I was here, I would feel as if I was on a mini vacation and that I was no longer in Las Vegas. That feeling was everything to me especially when I wanted to run away from it all! It was my home away from home.

I remember driving out here almost once a week. This was the place I came to for peace of mind. I would always drive to Lake Las Vegas alone. It was my secret spot and I loved it here, so of course when I met my husband and knew that I was serious about him, I took him here and told him how much this place meant to me.

I brought him here during the day and told him that we will have to come back again but this time at night so that we could see this little hidden gem when it was lit up. Whether it was Christmas or not, this place was lit up with beautiful lights, which made it magical.

A couple months later, he took me out to dinner and mentioned that he wanted to go for a walk around Lake Las Vegas. Of course, I was down for that but and no clue what was about to happen.

We walked around the whole place and ended up on this bridge that overlooked the lake. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

As I hung over the railing looking out and enjoying the view, he held me close from behind and whispered, “I love you”. Next thing I know, I noticed that he was no longer hugging me. I turned around to see where he had gone, and there he was, down on one knee…

He had the sweetest words to say to me before asking for my hand in marriage. It was a moment I will never forget! Of course like any normal girl, I started crying. What girl doesn’t cry when she is being proposed to?! Well , duh, I said YES!!!!!!!!

The gentleman that he is, my husband kept it old school and asked my father for my hand. So of course, my dad knew beforehand that this was happening so he was at home nervous and excited for me!

After I said yes and soaked up this special moment, I rushed to call my mom and sister first to tell them the good news. Apparently, they were all in on it and sat by the phone waiting for the my call. While I was on the phone, my dad called the other line to see how it went.

It was the best moment of my life and to hear that my family was as happy as I was that I will be marrying him, was icing on the cake for me.

They fell in love with him as quick as I did because of everything that he is. He is definitely different from all the others that I brought home in the past.

We decided that we wanted to make it official as husband and wife at this same location. So, not only did my husband propose to me here, we also got married on a yacht on the lake. We haven’t been back here since because not to long after we got married, we moved to California.

We both knew that we had to come back to this special spot before moving to our new home in Japan. It was the perfect way to end the year. This spot will forever be our special place!
